At the heart of the flexibility of C_wiz is the D3 (data device driver) architecture.

Current D3 Library

All D3s listed below are included with the Evaluation Edition Download.

As D3s are not particularly hard to write, our intention is to provide any D3s developed in the future by ForTotalRecall free of charge. This statement of intent obviously can not cover any D3s written by third parties.

All D3s have inbuilt diagnostics tools, a 60 second trace capability and fully utilize the C_wiz Test Drive facility to provide context sensitive online documentation.

COM Patch Panel

The COM Patch Panel D3 allows data to be sent between real COM ports and /or virtual COM ports.

There are no constraints on the way this D3 can be used, but typically it is used to route COM port data on a "one to many" basis, for example to send GPS data coming in on the PCs real COM port COM1 to:

o Virtual COM port COM21, connected to the GPS (NMEA 0183 RMC) D3 which uses the GPS data to supply latitude etc to C_wiz.

o Virtual COM port COM22, connected to the AIS D3 which uses the GPS data to filter AIS data received on a separate real COM port before sending it to C_wiz.

o Virtual COM port COM6, connected to a chart plotter unrelated to C_wiz, which uses the data as if it was coming from a real COM port.
