D3 Library and SDK
At the heart of the
flexibility of C_wiz is the D3 (data device driver)
architecture.
What is a D3
Current D3 Library
All D3s listed below are
included with the Evaluation Edition
Download.
As D3s are not
particularly hard to write, our intention is to provide
any D3s developed in the future by ForTotalRecall free
of charge. This statement of intent obviously can not
cover any D3s written by third parties.
All D3s have inbuilt
diagnostics tools, a 60 second trace capability and
fully utilize the C_wiz Test Drive facility to provide
context sensitive online documentation.

The GPS (NMEA 0183 RMC) D3
listens to a GPS which is issuing NMEA 0183 $..RMC
messages.
Any other messages from
the GPS are ignored.
The D3 extracts latitude,
longitude, course and speed data and sends it to C_wiz.
The D3 also calculates rate of turn (time rate of change
of course) and sends it to C_wiz.
In addition the D3 has 2
other features:
o PC syncing.
PC syncing is the process
of adjusting the PC's internal clock to correspond with
the time being broadcast by the GPS.
Most PCs internal clocks
are not particularly accurate. There is not much point
in recording time stamped data when the time stamp is
dubious. This D3 can adjust the PC's internal clock to
reflect the GPS time at user defined intervals.
o
Automatic VIP change at sunrise and sunset.
Generally a different VIP
should be used at night to that used during the day.
This D3 can automatically change the VIP by calculating
sunrise and sunset based on the date, latitude and
longitude supplied by the GPS.
